I'm not sure of the specifics of your organization but it's possible that you don't need a DPM on the team.
I find that DPMs are most impactful when
- there are gaps that can be articulated,
- when designers are spending too much time on activities other than design (the org needs to define what "too much time" is for their needs)
- or when design leaders are unable to work at the top of their job descriptions (design leadership, strategy, client or stakeholder relations) because of operational overhead.
If you feel your job encompasses most of the DPM role, perhaps it's not the right role to hire in your organization at this time.
It's probably also worth saying that some teams hire project managers instead of DPMs, or other niche specialists when Design Lead roles need support.
