Step up. Step up. Step Up. And look back.

Years ago I went on a trip to hike into the Grand Canyon. On the first day, we hiked down, full of anticipation and excitement. But on day two, we had to hike back out.

The excitement now drained, this climb out meant keeping my head down and just stepping up, stepping up, stepping up. At times, it was all I could do to just consider my next step.

One more step. And one more after that.

After hours of climbing a narrow rocky path, we took a break. For the first time since starting the ascent, I turned around to look back on our progress. The view was breathtaking. Taking a moment to look down on the valley we had just climbed out of. Not only was the view spectacular, but the day’s work made much more sense than any individual step up, step up, step up. It was only by looking back that I could truly make sense of the progress we had made.

In today’s TBD, I wanted to share a little of the path I’ve created to serve you. I started my coaching business in 2020 right at the beginning of the pandemic with my two elementary school sons doing Zoom classes next to me. Over the years, I’ve been so grateful to clients and the community we’ve made around creating a life that matters.

We’ve done a lot of great work together. Let’s keep climbing!

1. We are approaching 100 issues of TBD!
TBD has been a passion project for me — marketing is a reality of any small business, but with TBD I’m hoping to offer useful information that helps you reconsider, think about things in a new way, and get a taste of what working with a coach can be like.

2. Women’s Group this Fall
I’ve promised to offer this one for a long time but this fall it’s happening. We are not only diving into tools for better communication and low-stress leadership, but also building trusted relationships with ourselves and others to unlock our inherent power. Super excited for this one!
Learn more about the group.

3. Unserious! The Pod!
I had the privilege of joining the Unserious team on their podcast for two episodes. The first, was about leading creative work in challenging times, a topic that has only gotten more relevant.
More recently, I talked with Micah Vono on the pod about managing overwhelm. How can we create more choices for ourselves when we’re overwhelmed?

4. RETHINK
Celebrating 4 years teaching and facilitating with RETHINK. It’s a fabulous community with many resources, classes, and support. Currently, I’m offering a monthly group to coach and help you connect with peers and build your professional network. Unpack challenges, learn new skills and hear what others in the industry are facing.
Join us!

I launched a new version of my website. I’ve introduced transparent pricing, more resources and (soon) I’ll be adding video content. As always, I update my book recommendations. Find a summer read.

Appreciate you!

Kind words from clients! 👋🏼

You talked me off the ledge so many times and showed me how to take a step back and manage difficult conversations. It was so helpful to analyze what I take on in the workplace and how I’m in relationship to the issues. I’m more confident, I speak up and I wouldn’t be here without your support.

After a six-month job hunt, I’m so excited to say that I’ve accepted a role that is challenging, exciting, and involves relocating!
I wanted to thank you, as a lot of
our work together gave me the confidence and clarity to pursue this opportunity. After receiving the offer, I looked back through my notes from our sessions, vividly re-lived the areas I was struggling with, and proudly recognized how many huge strides I’ve taken since then, both in my current role and how I’m approaching this next one. I truly feel like a new person — both in terms of professional competencies but also in achieving practically all of the goals we talked through (improving communication! a triathlon! finding communities! negotiating raises!).
I could go on, but I really just wanted to say thank you for the work that you do.
Keep doing what you’re doing!
